Steven Chan is the co-founder of the highly successful and award-winning Pastels Salon brand. After completing educational programmes in London with Alan International and Vidal Sassoon, Steven continued his training with L’Oreal in Paris, following which he worked in Barcelona and Hamburg before returning to Singapore. In the mid-90s, he relocated to Dubai operating a salon at the Marbella Club in Sharjah before opening The Hair Shop at the Jumeirah Beach Club. After working with Ruksher Malik, the two decided to team up together and with their unique vision and passion launched the Pastels Salon brand in 2004.
Joe has worked in the hair industry since 2003, joining Pastels in 2008. Having started his training in his native Lebanon, he moved to Paris to complete it at Franck Provost. Since then, he has undergone regular training at Pastels Salon. Joe loves working in the hair industry for its fun and creative atmosphere. He loves creating new styles for his clients and loves it when clients refer their friends to him.
Vesna was born in Sweden but is of Serbian descent. She has been working in Pastels Salon since 2011. Her proudest moments have been names in Time Out Dubai’s Top Ten hairdressers Dubai and winning Hair Idol Middle East in 2011. Vesna is also part of the salon’s creative team who are behind the salon’s now-iconic annual photoshoots.
Yoann always accompanied his mother to the hair stylist. Soon he developed a real interest and started to ask lots of questions about colour choices, techniques and tools. The stylist was very patient with him, answering my questions and encouraging me to follow his passion.He has worked as a stylist since he was 19, starting off by attending a private school in the South of France. His area of expertise is colouring and he has spent a lot of time training in this particular niche and mastering the craft. He loves to experiment with different techniques and shades and really enjoy personalising the service for each client. His career highlight was when he won the countrywide L’Oreal competition in France for a collection called “Retro-Nouveau.”
Hailing from the UK Julian is a bona fide master at cutting. Having joined Pastels in late 2015, he has quickly established a loyal clientele. Julian trained under Andrew Collinge at his salon in Selfridges. He has also worked with number high-end designers and renowned hair stylists. Julian believes that a good cut and style can make someone automatically feel great about themselves and enhance their self-confidence.
Originally from the Philippines, Maria has worked in the hair industry for more than 20 years, joining Pastels in 2008. At the salon, she has become one of the most popular junior stylists and particularly enjoys cutting and colouring.
Riqui has been at Pastels Salon since 2014. She very much enjoys attending training sessions and her proudest moment was when she won a hair colouring competition.
Ellen has been working at Pastels Salon since 2009. She is an expert at Essie gel and Bio Sculpture gel and really enjoys making clients’ hands and feet beautiful.
Angela has worked in the industry for the past 15 years, joining Pastels Salon in 2011. She has received training from L’Oreal for haircuts, colouring and blowdry. Her proudest moments have been participating at fashion shows such as Fashion Forward. Although she started out being a beautician, she has discovered a passion for hair and enjoys doing foils, colouring and creating short haircuts.
Pratima has been at Pastels Salon since 2011 and is a waxing and nails expert, as well as performing hair treatments. Her passion is making her clients happy.
Rose has worked in beauty industry for more than 20 years, joining Pastels in 2011. She has completed training for nails, waxing, spray tanning as well as product training for L’Oreal. Rose is a well-trained nail technician and can do treatments such as Callus peels, Paraffin and thermasoft treatment. She also undertakes weekly training for cut and colouring with members of the salon’s artistic team.
She loves working at Pastels because they are always acknowledging her brilliance at nail treatments and they have awarded her for Employee of the Week.
Sharon has worked in the hair and beauty industry since 2006, joining Pastels in 2010. Although qualified in both hair and nails, she loves doing blowdries.
Rozlyn joined Pastels in early 2016. Since her arrival, she has completed training for Kerastase, hair extensions, as well as massage techniques. Her favourite treatments to do are technical treatments including perming and straightening.
Nellie studied at Ruiz Health Care and Beauty Institute in her native Philippines and joined Pastels Salon in 2011, having worked in the hair and beauty industry for five years already. She enjoys working as a hair stylist assistant – colour mixing and offering hair treatments including scalp massage.
Having joined in early 2016, Rheda is one of the salon’s latest recruits. Her greatest achievement was the first time she coloured a client’s hair and made the client really happy with her work.
Corina has worked as a nail technician since 2011, joining Pastels Salon just over a year ago. She is trained in Essie Gel, which is her favourite treatment to do, as well as Paraffin and Callus treatments.
